Read and Steve Gendler, 2024 Honorees, embody the spirit of the Tom Adams Award of Appreciation for Dedication to TITAS and the Arts. Remarkable for the longevity and breadth of service, their impact on the North Texas dance community is unparalleled. It is particularly fitting that we honor them in 2024, as it marks the 30th anniversary of Steve’s service on the TITAS Board. Together, he and Read have been trusted advisors, tireless fund- and friend-raisers, and devoted champions of TITAS’s mission.
Each side of this dynamic duo gives of their time, impressive talents, and treasure – but the real magic happens when the pair works in tandem…a world of possibilities unfolds. Read can effortlessly move from chairing a gala (she served as the TITAS Gala Chair in 2012 and 2013) to teaching Music and Movement to preschoolers with the Vogel Alcove. Steve is one of the first people you call when in need of someone with whom to bounce ideas. He always keeps his eye on the big picture and the organization’s mission at the core of his decision-making.
