Mission 

We entertain, educate, and inspire by curating and commissioning extraordinary

dance and performance art from around the world.

Founded in 1982 by co-founders Tom Adams and Gene Leggett, TITAS/DANCE UNBOUND is one of only a handful of presenting organizations in the nation dedicated exclusively to dance. For 40 years, it has been a vital leader and advocate for the arts, presenting over 625 live performances (185 Dallas debuts) by the most intriguing and influential artists across 42+ countries.

In 2001, Charles Santos took the helm as Executive/Artistic Director and has led the organization toward its mission by skillfully curating top dance presentations, developing artistic collaborations that foster a greater sense of community, and expanding TITAS’ audience base. TITAS entered into a coproducing partnership with the AT&T Performing Arts Center in 2009, joining a stellar roster of anchor arts organizations in the Dallas Arts District and solidifying TITAS as a unique asset within the North Texas cultural landscape. The organization is nationally and internationally recognized for innovative and boundary-breaking programming, artistic excellence, and collaborative cultural partnerships.

In 2011, TITAS expanded its mission to commission new works and cultural collaborations, and in 2015 began presenting dance exclusively. Since then, TITAS has commissioned 25 works, at least seven of which include DFW-based artists. Currently, 21 TITAS-commissioned works tour internationally, bringing national and international attention to Dallas’ creative economy and highlighting its support of new artistic work, artists, and the entire creative industry.

TITAS is committed to igniting public support for the arts, increasing access to arts experiences, and encouraging arts learning for all ages. Connections to visiting artists are maximized through extensive community engagement and education programming, including post-show artist talkbacks, student performances, lecture demonstrations, master classes, internships, artist salons, outdoor dance classes, and workshops for special populations. Additionally, TITAS offers free and reduced-price tickets to historically underserved schools and community groups.
