Thrilling, daring and death-defying only begins to describe the wonder that is a Diavolo performance.Known for large sets and stunning acrobatics, Diavolo returns to Dallas with a spectacular new work, Fearful Symmetries. Diavolo, created in 1992 by Jacques Heim, focuses on an innovative study in the way individuals interact with their environment. Diavolo is known for constantly changing the image it presents to audiences, and has developed a unique vocabulary of movement that creates an unforgettable experience of powerful images.
The 10-member company, with more than a dozen works in repertoire, has carved a unique niche for themselves in the global dance/performance world. In 1993, it was nominated for two Lester Horton Awards in Los Angeles, and in 1995, the company made its European debut at the Edinburgh Festival where it was named “Best of the Fest” by the London Independent and “Critic’s Choice” by The Guardian. The company also received three Lester Horton Awards in 1995 for the work Tete en L’Air.
In 1997, artistic director Jacques Heim was recognized by the Los Angeles Times as one of “36 Faces to Watch.” Always a TITAS favorite, Diavolo will be one of two dance companies TITAS will feature in the Wyly Theater. The Wyly Theater will provide an exciting, up-close perspective to this amazing performance.
