Founded in 1977, DanceBrazil was the first dance company to bring traditional Afro-Brazilian dance and Capoeira to the United States. Since that time, the company has achieved global fame through breathtaking performances of Afro-Brazilian dance and Capoeira before capacity audiences in Europe, Asia, Brazil and the United States. In 2008, director Jelon Vieira was honored with a National Heritage Fellowship for his work with the company. DanceBrazil will be presented in the Wyly Theater, truly allowing audiences to be a part of the passion and excitement that permeates a DanceBrazil performance.
